I decided to wear my hair the way it grows… (Products Management)
Being mindful of the products you use is a very important next step in your journey. You want to use the best products but don't want to overdo it or break the bank during the process.
Do not become a product junkie! Let me repeat, do not
become a product junkie. You want to stock up on products that are showing you
results, not products you have seen advertised. You would have wasted a lot of
money only to find these products don't work for you and your hair. I’ve wasted a lot of money buying product after product, while trying to
work out what was best for my hair. To an extent there will be an element of
trial an error when trying to find products that work for you, but I probably could have saved a lot of money if I’d gotten advice from people with similar
hair texture to me, and did as much research as possible BEFORE buying
products.
Also, let me give you some more friendly advice: be careful about buying products based on the reviews of natural hair bloggers. Remember, most of the time these bloggers are being sent products for free. They may have something different to say if they were spending their hard earned money on some of the products they promote.

It is wise to learn your hair, love your hair and do your
research before running to the closet Target, Walmart, or Beauty store and
spending loads of money on products that may not agree with your hair. How do
you find out what products will work for you? Based on the porosity of your
hair, you now know what type of products will yield beneficial results; this
becomes trial and error period along your journey. The best recommendation
would be to first stock up on natural products. There are a few basic products
that almost every natural haired woman has in their cupboard: olive oil,
coconut oil, and Shea butter. You will also probably need a spray bottle to
evenly distribute a mist of water on your hair as often as you need and a wide
tooth tail comb. You’ll also need a good shampoo and conditioner.
Along your journey, I want you to remember it’s your
hair, how it looks matters to you. The level of care and attention you give it
makes the difference. At the same time, don’t make it your life’s mission. Hair
can be beautiful, and should be looked after, but try not to fall into the trap
of becoming completely obsessed. When you first go natural it’s easy to find
yourself greedily consuming hair video after hair video on Youtube. But that
can be time consuming. And once you’ve gone natural, your time will be time
better spent finger detangling, twisting, and twisting out, and worrying about
how you’re going to wear your natural hair to work in the morning.
I’d love to hear about some of your product experiences?
Or the products you are using that work/worked and/or didn’t work.
