Why Did We Start BSFP?

I grew up in a culture that lived by the "community raises up the young people." We didn't have so much exposure to technology and social media wasn't the mainstream (good, bad and indifferent). We were focused on school, good grades and making a better tomorrow. We also didn't have as many distractions as exist today that leave our youth bewildered and feeling out of place and unmotivated.

Today, if youth don't look a certain way, come from a certain economic status, have a certain style about them, they don't fit in. The desire to seek higher education is of less importance to youth today and school systems are losing the ability to keep them motivated and inspired. It’s hard to compete with what the world is offering as "immediate" but temporary gratification.

Youth, today, are not as driven as they can be, they are unfulfilled, distracted, unmotivated and uninspired. They are being influenced by standards that:

·       Don't reflect who they truly are,
·       Don't provide direction for their success tomorrow
·       Leave them disengaged
·       Don't create an opportunity for them to think big beyond today.

This shouldn't be the outlook of anyone's future. I wanted to influence and help change this perception and reignite purpose in our youth, reestablish the drive that inspires them to want and strive for more and rebuild our communities.

We don't take away from any other organizations or programs that are already part of the movement to work with youth, collectively or with girls or with boys. We partner with organizations to expand our reach and efforts to reach as many youth as possible and provide them with an array of resources that will help meet this mission "create generations of successful leaders of tomorrow."

Brothers & Sisters’ of Faith with Purpose (BSFP) is an Incorporated 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was established to help reignite drive for success and enthusiasm to learn.

There is always room to do more.
